Chestnut are a family-run firm which gives high quality financial advice to people, families and businesses in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.
We pride ourselves on our friendly and approachable nature. Our clients are at the heart of everything we do.
We understand the needs of our clients and write your own plan to deal with each of those needs.
Our first visit, usually in the comfort of your own home, is always on us, getting to learn about you, what you would like us to achieve, and how best we might be able to be of service.
You’ll find Ian has a friendly approach to meetings. Be prepared to hear about Farley, his five-year-old Labrador retriever, who arrived as a Guide Dogs for the Blind puppy but didn’t quite make their grade. Quite a story!
Ian is married to Emma. He has three sons and three grandsons. He enjoys his food, wine, rugby, and lots of walking with Farley.
Ian has spent over 30 years’ giving advice, in many senior roles. As well as being an advisor, Ian has also worked in legal services. So, he is well qualified to help clients with their financial planning needs.
Ian has in the past been a director of one of the UK's largest firms of financial advisers. Whilst there he gained a degree in law through the Open University. He has also passed specialist exams for mortgage, equity release, and long-term care advice. Ian and Emma are members of the Society of Will Writers, so are well used to writing Wills and trusts for clients.
Chestnut does not provide advice on transfers from company pension schemes as these are not normally good advice for our clients. We do know many other advisers that can help in this field though, so we will always give the most help possible.
Our view is that no matter what your question is, or what your problem is, do get in touch with us and we will always try to help!
Emma is the core of Chestnut. She manages the whole office, and finds solutions to problems, from mortgage market surveys to drafting Wills. Emma is also studying, with the Chartered Insurance Institute and the Society of Will Writers. She has added more and more services she can provide to our clients.Callers often speak with Emma first and some of our clients prefer her to sit in on our meetings, which is more than fine.
Emma juggles life in the office. A mum of three boys and nanny to three grandchildren. She is and an active and lively part of the local community, especially the WI. A keen supporter of women's cancer charities, having already cycled in northern India, she has recently announced that her next expedition, in Autumn 2020, will be in Thailand!
Our office is a very busy place to be during the week, Emma leads our admin support team, our IT work, our 'treating customers fairly' work and our quality kite mark initiatives.
